The world of Eşref Rüya is expanding with a new digital series. Çağatay Ulusoy will reprise his role as Eşref Tek in Eşref Tek, a Prime Video production that will take viewers back to the early years of the character and reveal how he became one of the most powerful figures in Istanbul’s criminal underworld.
Following the strong performance of Eşref Rüya on Prime Video, Ulusoy has reunited with TİMS&B Productions and producers Timur Savcı and Burak Sağyaşar for the new project. Rather than continuing Eşref’s story from where audiences last saw him, Eşref Tek will turn back the clock and explore the defining moments of his past.
One of the key characters returning alongside Eşref will be Kadir, played by Görkem Sevindik. The new series will focus on the early relationship between Eşref and Kadir and the alliance they form as they attempt to survive and gain power in Istanbul’s dangerous underworld. Their paths are expected to cross in Cyprus before the story brings them into the criminal world of Istanbul.
At the same time, the series will dig deeper into one of the most important elements of Eşref’s identity: his lifelong search for Rüya, the childhood love whose memory continues to shape his decisions. By revisiting this period, Eşref Tek promises to show audiences not only the rise of a crime boss, but also the emotional wounds and loyalties that transformed Eşref into the man seen in Eşref Rüya.
The eight-episode series is written by Ethem Özışık and will be directed by Uluç Bayraktar, who also played a major creative role in Eşref Rüya. According to current production reports, filming is scheduled to begin on November 1 in Istanbul. Görkem Sevindik is expected to divide his time between the Eşref Tek set in Istanbul and the Adana filming of Güneşin Doğduğu Yer.
Prime Video has not yet announced an official release date for Eşref Tek. The project has so far been promoted simply as “coming soon,” meaning November 1 refers to the planned start of filming rather than the premiere date.
With Çağatay Ulusoy once again at the center of the story and Görkem Sevindik returning as Kadir, Eşref Tek looks set to expand the Eşref Rüya universe by answering one of its biggest questions: what happened before Eşref became the man everyone learned to fear?
