Çağatay Ulusoy and Demet Özdemir captivate Cannes with Eşref Rüya!

The stars of Kanal D’s hit drama Eşref Rüya took center stage at this year’s MIPCOM 2025 in Cannes, one of the world’s most prestigious television markets. The beloved leads, Çağatay Ulusoy and Demet Özdemir, drew the attention of both the international press and fans from across the globe, turning the Croisette Boulevard into a celebration of Turkish television.
Kanal D’s acclaimed series has already become a cultural phenomenon in Turkey, and its fame is now extending beyond national borders. At MIPCOM, Demirören Media TV Group President Murat Yancı emphasized the channel’s strong lineup for the new season, saying: “Kanal D is once again coming in strong this year with Uzak Şehir, Eşref Rüya, Arka Sokaklar, and our new project Güller ve Günahlar.” Meeting Ulusoy and Özdemir in Cannes, Yancı praised the team, adding, “You’re amazing. The series is legendary — I wait for every episode with excitement.”
A Touch of Glamour on the Croisette
The famous palm-lined Boulevard de la Croisette hosted the dazzling Eşref Rüya team for a special photo event that turned heads across the festival. Arriving in a mint-green 1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, Çağatay Ulusoy took the wheel with Demet Özdemir by his side. The crowd gathered quickly, eager to capture the moment, as the two actors posed for cameras embodying their on-screen characters, Eşref Tek and Nisan.
The duo later shot a special feature inspired by the soul of the series, attracting intense attention from both local and international media outlets.
The Stars Speak from Cannes
Speaking about his first-ever visit to Cannes, Çağatay Ulusoy shared his reflections: “It’s my first time here, and it’s a wonderful experience. Of course, selling our shows abroad is important, but for me it’s about more than that — it’s a way of representing our culture and our people. We’re here to strengthen our connections, and I hope the audience around the world can feel what we feel.”
His co-star Demet Özdemir, also attending the event for the first time, echoed the excitement: “It’s very special for me. We work long hours and under intense schedules, so being here, breathing this atmosphere, meeting new people, and sharing our story means a lot. I hope my character Nisan can inspire women around the world. She’s a woman who stands on her own feet and has her own dreams. Her bond with her sister and their journey to build their own family are very meaningful — even when life doesn’t go as planned.”
Eşref Rüya Is Going Global
The producers of the series, Timur Savcı and Burak Sağyaşar, expressed pride in the international attention Eşref Rüya received in Cannes. Savcı said: “We’re truly happy today. People have come from all over the world — the Middle East, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa. Eşref Rüya is now going global.”
