Merve Dizdar was selected as the Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival!
Merve Dizdar broke new ground and made Turkey proud. The famous actress won the “Best Actress Award” for Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s film “Kuru Otlar Üstüne”. Merve Dizdar received great applause with her speech.
“I am accepting this award on behalf of all my sisters who did not bow down to those who were deemed worthy of them and took action, risking everything for this cause and never giving up hope no matter what. And I dedicate it to them and to all struggling souls in Turkey who are waiting to experience the good days they deserve.”
Turkish names have been awarded before in the history of the Cannes Film Festival. In 2003, Muzaffer Özdemir and Mehmet Emin Toprak were awarded the “Best Actor Awards”, who also played in the Nuri Bilge Ceylan film “Far”.
